The Reed Academy of Martial Arts is a non-traditional school with very traditional values. We feel that building Respect, Honor, Integrity, Character, and Compassion is as important as building up your physical body and martial skill. We teach a martial art that is practical and effective in both competition and on the street. Our head instructor, Sifu Charles Reed , is a fully certified instructor under Guro Dan Inosanto in Jun Fan Gung Fu / Jeet Kune Do and the Filipino Martial Arts. All of our instructors are certified under Guro Inosanto. This makes us one of the only schools in this part of the country with 4 certified instructors. This is the place if you are looking for a solid martial art that will instill a sense of capability and confidence in what you practice. We have a core group of world class instructors that make your progress their priority. We also supplement our regular classes with world class seminars from some of the best names in the Martial Arts community. The Reed Academy of Martial Arts is one of the only schools in the area to bring in world champion athletes and world renown instructors such as Guro Dan Inosanto, Jean Jacques Machado, Professor Salem Assli, and Guro Victor Gendrano Jr to name a few. 513-874-5509 JKD Class This class will be taught in weekly modules which will cover various aspects of the different arts we study here at the Reed Academy. You will get a blend of the Filipino martial arts, French Savate, American Boxing, Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, Wing Chun, Jun Fan Gung Fu and Japanese Shoot Wrestling. Students will be expected to take notes each week and keep a training note book. This class is strongly recommended for the beginners. Kali/Silat Module This module will be taught in the Phase class and focuses on the Inosanto system of the Filipino martial arts. This module offers a program that introduces students to the kali or Escrima stick and the 12 main strikes, weapons training will include, but is not limited to single stick, double stick, stick & dagger, double dagger, panatukan (Filipino boxing), Sikaran (Filipino kicking methods), and Maphalindo Silat. BJJ/MMA This class will have a base of Machado Jiu Jitsu with Muay Thai, Shoot Wrestling, and a little bit of the other arts we teach as well blended together to be effective in the ring or on the street. A Jiu Jitsu Gi is required to be able to participate in this class. Even though a gi is required this class will work with and with out the Jiu Jitsu Gi or uniform.
Wing Chun The Wing Chun class is a Chinese martial art that emphasizes short-range combat and focuses on the principles of the art such as center line, balance, sensitivity training and power generation. This class follows a more traditional curriculum but does cover the alternative methods developed by Sijo Lee. This class will also work on the Muk Yan Jong or Wooden Dummy sets.
